New York - Manhattan Day 5 (Museum Photo Spam)

So day 5! We started the day a little late because we were all tired from all the walking we did. So instead of breakfast, we went straight for Brunch at the largest Applebee's outlet (total coincidence - we just wanted to try applebee's, and it happened to be the largest outlet).

I liked nachos when I was in Singapore, but after eating nachos here, I can understand why it's such a huge thing. It is much nicer here. I don't even know how to describe it, just that I really like it even more here.

The food was good, and all for an acceptable price. Onions here are so sweet I just munch on them. I start to appreciate vegetables so much more since I come here. I eat lots of vegetables from the start, but the vegetables here are rather expensive, so we always end up buying a lesser amount. There are probably some cheaper options that we have not found just of yet.

After brunch, we started to walk down the streets again. We ended up splitting up from superdry, where the boys started buying stuff. My dad and Liyen went back to the central park while my mum followed us this time around. I ended up getting a t-shirt from superdry, although it was supposed to be a male shirt. The material for the males were (as usual) much better than the females, and so I got it with the thought to wear it as pajamas. Yet, I have been wearing it more than I thought I would because the weather here is still relatively warm, and all I packed in my luggages were long-sleeves. Andrew quite nearly rejoiced at the sight of me buying something. I did spend quite a lot recently though, but more to that later.

After more shopping around, we walked down to around the 73rd street to a large museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Tickets are bought at a voluntary basis, so we can pay however much we want. The recommended price was $25, but not knowingly, we ended up paying only $10 for all 4 of us.

We actually went into the Greek section first, but since we were there at about 3pm, we only had 2 hours to walk about and main focus was on the mummies so we decided to head there first after browsing a little in the Greek department.

Then, I went to the Byzantine section. By then, we had all long went in our ways so I slowly walked between the different sections, and lost track of what was what anymore. I even got kind of lost in the middle of it all.

Personally, this was probably my favorite section of all: Armory and weaponry

This one cracks me up all the time. He smiles at the face of your death.

We stayed in the museum up till the moment it closed, then headed down a few avenue in search for desserts.

It took us some searching but we finally found the place we were finding at the back of the avenue.

Strawberry Shortcake

This was their signature layer cake. I forgot the exact name for it, but it was also my favorite. It was creamy but not overpoweringly.

And we ended up ordering 1 more after the 2 cakes, and this is a hazelnut cake. It wasn't exactly cheap but for the quality of cakes, it wasn't that expensive either.

People mostly come in and take the cakes away so the store was really small.

We headed back after that to meet up with Liyen and my dad at the apartment. We were too lazy to go too far for dinner, so we ate at the nearby chinese restaurant. It was cheap but it tasted really funny. We weren't too kind either. My mum, knowing that they put a lot of oil and msg into the food, requested for less oil and less msg or seasoning, and we heard the chef saying (in chinese) that if there is less oil and less msg, it wouldn't be nice. It wasn't even chinese food per se. It is more of an adaption to adhere to the locals. The pan-fried dumplings were bun sized. It got us a little scared of eating chinese here after that.
