 Italy - Vatican City

So, we had to drive to the entrance of the Vatican City and this was the view of the city from the outside. We had to go through some security check before we could enter but we were really lucky that the place wasn't crowded that day so we could enter in less than half an hour.

They told us the queue usually starts where this picture was taken, zigzagging all over the square and my mum who has been to Italy once before agreed that the last time she came, the line was also around that length. Instead, we went right up to the sheltered area under the statues because of the lack of queue on that day. It was really fortunate because I remember the weather was quite scotching too.

I took this picture where we have pretty much started the queue, and it didn't take us that long to get in the basilica. Those were statues of saints that surrounded the entire square in from of the St Peter's Basilica.

We had to go through a metal detector before coming to this area where there are scottish guards. (This wasn't where we entered. I have no idea what that place even is.)
We had to walk out of the shelter to go through another check - this time for dressing. We aren't allowed to wear sleeveless, slippers or shorts into the Basilica. At the same time, no big backpacks are allowed as well. Fortunately, I was dressed appropriately because the tour guide did not tell us the day before that such a thing existed (I knew from reading books but 2 other girls almost got stopped.) He did not tell us the plans nor what was supposed to be needed so it was a good that we all managed to enter.

This was the square in front of the Basilica and if I'm not wrong, the chairs were there for mass.

My mandatory against the sun shots

I'm not a Christian, so I can't really explain the meanings of everything here.
Despite all that, I really liked the Basilica and it was pretty much my favorite thing out of the entire trip.
It's like you walk in and you just can't help but go: "Woah..." with your jaw hanging stupidly.
It was really beautiful but all I can offer you are the pictures because I just can't explain it.

Warning: Completely uninformative; just a picture spam to be very honest (つω⊂* )

The ceilings were really a marveling bright golden in color and honestly the pictures does them no justice.

I don't even know what this is but it just looks so grosteque and beautiful. I love how everything has their little details be it the ceilings or the walls, the letterings and the statues.

On a different note, I spent my day sleeping away once again. I went to sleep only about 9am this morning so I ended up only waking up when I was called for dinner at 7+pm. I've just been wondering how to pack my shoes since both my luggages are pretty full now...
